What should a five-page business website include?
Studio SOL /
Five pages can be plenty for a small business website, provided each one has a clear purpose.
The goal isn't to fill five slots. It's to help visitors understand your business and find the information they need.
1. Homepage
Your homepage should answer three questions quickly: What do you do? Who do you help? What should someone do next?
A clear opening statement, useful supporting information and an obvious next step matter more than an elaborate introduction.
Show what makes your business relevant and give visitors a reason to continue.
2. About page
People want to know who they're dealing with.
An About page can introduce your business, explain your approach and make the people behind the work feel real.
It doesn't need a long history. Focus on the details that help someone feel comfortable choosing you.
3. Services page
Your Services page should explain what customers can actually buy or enquire about.
Use clear service names, useful descriptions and straightforward calls to action.
If your services are substantially different, you may need dedicated pages for each one. In that case, the best structure might be more than five pages.
4. Work, projects or proof
Show what your business can do.
For a designer, that might mean a portfolio. For a trades business, completed projects. For a consultant, relevant examples or verified client feedback.
Use genuine evidence. Explain what the work involved and why it's relevant.
If you don't yet have client examples, focus on your process and capabilities rather than inventing proof.
5. Contact page
Make getting in touch easy.
A short form, clear email address and relevant contact information are usually more useful than a complicated enquiry process.
Ask for enough information to understand the enquiry, but don't make visitors complete a lengthy questionnaire before they can say hello.
What about SEO?
A good website needs more than keywords.
Clear headings, descriptive page titles, responsive design, accessible content and sensible internal links help visitors and search engines understand the site.
Basic SEO foundations are a starting point. Ongoing content development and competitive search visibility are separate considerations.
What about mobile?
A website needs to work properly on smaller screens.
Check that text is readable, buttons are easy to use, forms work and important information isn't hidden behind awkward interactions.
A beautiful desktop layout is only part of the job.
Five pages, one clear journey
Think about the path someone takes from first impression to enquiry.
They arrive, understand the offer, look for reassurance and decide whether to contact you.
Every page should help that journey rather than distract from it.
